Echo for Shopify: the assistant that checks the order before it answers

For Shopify stores in Quebec. The Echo Support assistant answers “Where is my order?” by checking the order in your store, knows your policies and your products, and hands over to your team for cancellations, address changes and returns. It never changes anything in Shopify.

Already an Echo customer? The owner or an administrator of your organization can request access from the Shopify card on the Connectors screen of your dashboard, or write to us at contact@echo-group.ca.

What the assistant does on your store

“Where is my order?”

It asks for the order number and the email address used to place the order. If both point to the same order, it gives the order and delivery status, the carrier, the tracking number and link, and the items. If not, it does not say which of the two does not match, and offers to hand over to a person after two attempts.

Cancellation, address, return

It checks the order the same way, then forwards the request to your team: an internal note with the order and the type of request, and the conversation moves to “Needs human”. It promises the customer neither a timeline nor an outcome.

Your products

It searches the active products published on your online store, and gives the title, the link, the price in the store’s currency and the availability.

Your policies and pages

Your policies (refund, shipping, terms…) and your ten most recently updated published pages go into its knowledge base with their link, refreshed every day.

What it does not do

  • No change in Shopify: no cancellation, no address change, no refund, no return. The app only asks for read access; your team acts, in Shopify.
  • Never an order’s delivery address, phone number, payment method or amounts. An order number and email do not prove who the person is, so it shares nothing more.
  • No order older than 60 days: that is Shopify’s limit for read access to orders.
  • No customer accounts: no customer order history, no signing in to their account.
  • No per-market prices, no translation of your policies.
  • Not on the Shopify App Store yet: during the pilot, each store gets an app of its own.

In French, from a Quebec company

Groupe Echo Inc. is a Quebec company. The assistant answers in the customer’s language (in French when written to in French); your dashboard is available in French, and a person in Quebec answers when you write to us.

Where the data goes

The application, the database and the files are hosted in Beauharnois, Quebec. But to write its answers, the assistant sends the conversation’s messages — including what it read from an order — to OpenRouter, in the United States, which routes them to the language model provider, chosen by OpenRouter: depending on the one selected, processing may take place in the United States or in another country. Cohere, which computes the search vectors of your policies and pages, of the assistant’s queries and of a short excerpt of resolved conversations, may also process them outside Canada. Sensitive information is not masked before it is sent.

Your store’s access token is encrypted and never displayed. On uninstall, Echo erases its access immediately, then, within 30 days, what it copied or read from the store — except the answers the assistant wrote, which stay in your conversations.

Pricing

The Shopify connector costs nothing extra: it serves the AI assistant, included in the paid plans. In Canadian dollars, per month, before tax, no commitment.

The free plan does not include the AI assistant: the store can be connected on it, but the assistant does not answer order questions and your policies are not synced. See all pricing

Pilot program, by invitation

  1. Write to us with your store’s address.
  2. We talk for 15 minutes to see whether your store fits the pilot (places are limited), then we prepare a Shopify app for your store and send you its install link.
  3. You install it from your Shopify admin (read access only), sign in to Echo or create your account, and connect the store by accepting the data processing agreement.
  4. You turn the widget on in your theme, with no code: Online Store → Themes → Customize → App embeds.

Frequently asked questions

Is my data, and my customers’ data, safe?
The app only asks for read access — orders, products, pages and policies — and cannot change anything in Shopify. The access token is encrypted and never displayed. An order is only shown if its number and email match, failed attempts are capped, and the address, phone number and payment method are never read. Messages handled by the assistant do leave Canada, for OpenRouter (United States) and then the model provider, whose country may vary: the data processing agreement sets it all out.
What happens if I uninstall the app?
Echo erases its access immediately, then, within 30 days, the copied policies and pages, the results of its lookups in conversations, the assistant’s internal notes in conversations where an order was looked up, and the lookup log. The answers the assistant wrote stay in your conversations, like the rest of your history. You can also disconnect the store from Echo without uninstalling the app.
How much does it cost?
The public price list: the AI assistant is included from the Essential plan, at $19 a month, before tax, with no commitment. The Shopify connector adds no fee. The Free plan does not include the AI assistant.
How long does installation take?
On your side, three steps and no code: install the app from the link you receive, connect the store to your Echo account, then turn the widget on in your theme. On ours, preparing the app for your store is a manual step during the pilot; we tell you how long it will take when we reply to your request.
Why “by invitation”?
Because the Echo app is not on the Shopify App Store yet. During the pilot phase, we create a custom app for each store, which Shopify only lets that store install. The pilot is also limited to a few stores, chosen for their profile. A public app on the App Store is planned next, with no date promised.
